Court Lists
Court Lists
If you are a party to a case, a member of the public or a legal representative, you can check the date, time and location of a court matter using the new online court lists. This information is available for the NSW Supreme, District, Local and Coroner's Courts.
How to find Supreme, District and Local Court cases
You can check matters listed in the next two weeks, as well as those which were listed in the previous seven days. To check the details of your court date, click on the 'Search Court Lists' button above and type in your name and/or the details of your matter. If you would like more information about how to use the new online court lists, please read the Court Lists Help Guide.
How to find Coroner's Court cases
You can now find Coroner's Court cases using the online court list tool. To search for Coroner's Court cases, you need to enter one or both of the following details:
- Location — enter the location of the courthouse, for example, 'Tamworth'. If the case is being heard in the Glebe courthouse, enter 'NSW State Coroner's Court'.
- Court — select the 'Local Court' field.
When you need to check the court lists
If you are a party to a case, it is very important that you appear in court as scheduled. Sometimes court lists can change, so the date or time of your matter might be re-scheduled. Please make sure you check the court lists regularly so that you know if any change is made to your court date. Court lists are updated several times a day.
If you cannot find a court listing
A small number of matters heard by the District Court will not appear if you do a search using the new online court lists. These matters are known as 'residual jurisdiction' matters. This means that the District Court has been given special authority to hear certain types of cases. These are:
- Medical Tribunal matters
- Matters concerning police hurt on duty and concerning the payment of superannuation and risk benefits to police officers
- Workers' compensation matters concerning employees working in or near a coal mine
- Workers' compensation matters involving dust diseases, bushfires, emergency and rescue services
- Matters relating to the Sporting Injuries Insurance Scheme
To find out when these matters have been scheduled, check the District Court site.
If you cannot find the details of a matter which you know is in the Supreme, District, Local or Coroner's Court, please call the registry of the appropriate court:
